The design of this year's Canada mitts is really lovely this year! They have black cuffs.
I just realized that I haven't changed my icon since high school because Patrick Chan is still my icon--which means it has been four years since the last winter olympics-- which means that the next one is literally on the precipice of fruition! I get really emotional about sports: nationalism is lethal when combined with the sensory overload that ice dancing, men's figure skating, and olympic hockey. So I love the olympics--they are as much of a guilty pleasure as Masterchef Juniors marathons. Guilty because the olympics kind of seem like a waste of resources and journalism that could be devoted to other issues. They're a distraction. Most of the G20 are located in higher latitudes and much of the top countries' performances can be ascribed to their economic endowment in addition to climatic suitability. Having winter is important to perform well in the winter olympics. The playing field is far from level with summer's Games, but discrepancies are aggravated when the theatre of athletic war is set in Winter. So it's nice that Canada can show off that we're actually good at sports once every four years. But I don't know, its hard to feel nice about the dreadfully expensive olympics if they really are a charade of power that reifies existing structural inequalities.
just like its hard to feel nice about buying clothes.

i think gordon ramsay is strangely comical

Aww Gordon Ramsay. Never seen him be so nice haha.

Ooo I like the mittens too!

I didn't get to watch a lot of the summer Olympics two years ago because I was in school at the time bleh. This time I'll be on co-op though so hopefully I get to watch the winter ones!
